That the Lucan/Clondalkin Area Committee thanks the Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment for his informative reply to the Council's letter expressing concern about the increase in the Live Register numbers in the Clondalkin SW Office, welcomes his statement that FAS is "interested in considering any proposals from the Lucan/Clondalkin Area Committee which would reduce unemployment levels, in particular, proposals which would help those who find it difficult to engage with FAS and commit to a plan to find a suitable job", and requests the Manager to convene a small Task Group, of elected members, officials and invited representatives from FAS and the local business/industry sector, to draw up proposals in response to Mr. Martin's invitation.

That the Council draw up an Area Action Plan for the Palmerstown Village area incorporating the VL Byrne site and also all of the "Old Lucan Road" and the estates off it-both residential, recreational and commercial, and making provision for the up-grading of the Kennelsfort Rd/N4 Intersection, prior to entertaining any planning application for the area.  The availability of such an important site becoming available now for re-development opens up opportunities including the provision of social and affordable housing for the already over-developed community of Palmerstown and in the context that whatever development emerges at the VL Byrne site will define Palmerstown for at least the next fifty years.
