That this Area Committee expresses its frustration at the prolonged delays in the bringing forward of the planned scheduled of works at the intersection of Kennelsfort Road, Palmerstown and the N4. The Palmerstown Community has been consistently let down by the authorities as a result of delays in resolving the related traffic problems at this major intersection.

To ask the Manager to report on the resources and arrangements that are in place for the summer months in the Lucan area to ensure regular grass-cutting of our parks and of green areas in estates that have been taken-in-charge; and to further advise on the Council's role in ensuring that public green areas not yet taken-in-charge by the South Dublin County Council are cut and maintained to an acceptable standard over the summer months, including:

  • The grass verge to the access road to Rossberry, Tullyhall and Hayden's Park Estates;
  • The green area at Griffeen Glen Courtyard;
  • Any remaining areas of Griffeen Valley Park not yet taken-in-charge?

To ask the Manager to report on the Council's response to the often-related problems of anti-social behaviour, the burning of wheelie-bins and general littering in Griffeen Valley Park and to ask that the following proposals be considered as part of the South Dublin County Council's response:

  • The need to significantly improve litter-picking and cleansing in the park, in particular at litter blackspots such as the hedging forming the southern boundary to Esker Cottages;
  • The installation of CCTV monitoring with remote PA system as employed in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght;
  • The locking at night-time of some of the entrances to the park from adjoining residential estates (only if they can be opened no later than 8am on the next morning)?
