To ask the Manager if he will arrange for a briefing to members before an upcoming Area Committee by the Manager/Coordinator of RUA RED, and if prior to that briefing he would repeat the request of this Committee that the management of RUA RED would consider holding an extension/outreach of some RUA RED exhibitions in suitable venues in Lucan (such as Ballyowen Castle Community Centre) and Clondalkin (such as the Civic Offices).

To ask the Manager to report on the number of residents in receipt of the waste collection waiver in the Lucan area; to report on the currents delays in processing bin-waivers for qualifying residents including delays in resolving problems faced by existing waiver-holders following the introduction of the new electronic waste charge system; and to advise on how many outstanding applications/problems have yet to be processed?

To ask the Manager to report on efforts to make secure the derelict piece of land adjacent to Droim Na Coille Estate, Lucan which remains the subject of dumping and anti-social behaviour?

That this Committee notes with concern that according to figures provided to the February meeting of the CDB there are 2387 unemployed people under 25 years old in Clondalkin (1657), Lucan (573) and Palmerstown (157), which suggests over 2500 in the whole of the Lucan-Clondalkin Electoral Areas, requests the Manager to recommend to the Department of Social Protection that information on these young unemployed which will allow a profile to be drawn up, in terms of qualification level and are, employment experience (if any), to enable agencies such as FAS, the VEC, IT Tallaght and CPLN to devise appropriate and relevant training/work placement programmes for the young unemployed in our area and that Government funding be sought to fund the immediate implementation of the programmes, and that the Manager copy his recommendation to the DSP to the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. This Committee further believes that similar urgent responses are also required to meet the needs of all 5222 unemployed persons under 25 years old in the County, and deplores the failure of the Government to take seriously the increasing crisis of unemployment amongst young people.

To ask the Manager if he will make a report on the number of requests for maintenance/repairs made by South Dublin County Council tenants in (a) the Lucan Electoral Area and (b) the Clondalkin Electoral Area in the period since 1st September (excluding request for repairs to damage cause directly by the recent cold weather, such as burst pipes), and if he can give information on the number of requests which have been attended to, the number of housing units where repairs have been completed, and the number of units where work is ongoing?

That this Committee requests the Manager to write to the RPA (Lucan LUAS Project Team) requesting information on its intentions in regard to the next phase of public consultation meetings in the Lucan, Quarryvale, Palmerstown area regarding the Lucan LUAS, and that the Manager conveys the request of this Committee that the RPA itself organise and implement its own public meetings.

That this Committee noting the significant business and financial difficulties faced by many crèche operators in Lucan, Palmerstown and Clondalkin since the introduction of the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) scheme, calls on the Minister for Children & Youth Affairs to engage in real and meaningful consultation with the childcare sector with the aim of seeking to reform the scheme, such as through the possible introduction of a daily subsidy model similar to that used in the UK as has been proposed by the National Association of Private Childcare Providers (NPCP).

That the Manager actively looks for a facility or lands not in use for a place to keep and look after horses. Lands around the North Clondalkin area are suitable for such a project by the Council. South Dublin County Council should take a lead on this amenity and be as pro social as possible. The Council can make an imaginative step to cater for horse lovers of the area with such an initiative.

That this Area Committee, noting that the Housing Department is in the preliminary stages of seeking to identify appropriate accommodation for new homeless shelters, nonetheless recommends against the selection of No. 2 & 4 Liscarne Gardens, Clondalkin for this purpose given the immediate proximity of these houses to St. Mary's SNS and JNS, the Dochas Family Centre and Rowlagh Community Centre.

That the Manager presents a report on the shortcomings of the sewage system serving Bawnogue Cottages and the Medical Centre on Cherrywood Crescent, Clondalkin and on how best to tackle them and that he makes all relevant groups aware that it might cause considerable problems if the proposed facilities for the Bawnogue Youth & Family Support Group were attached to this sewage pipe.
