This Council requests the Chief Executive to report to members on when the Kishoge railway station is due to open. To ask that the report includes the background to when and why this was built in 2009, it's purpose at that time and while it's part of the SDZ the motion seeks to open this station prior to the agreed phasing element as we are already seeing the demand and necessity for alternative transport for the area and having train station service in place opened and ready for use before new residents are housed in the developments to ensure there will be less of a need to acquire a car.
That this Council agrees to write to An Bord Pléanala, to the Minister of Housing Darragh O'Brien Minister of State Peter Burke with special responsibility for Planning, Local Government and Heritage to request a change in legislation to allow for pause on planning application decisions related to ongoing and future private large development within the proposed City Edge Redevelopment areas. A recent report provided to members in relation to this project, the largest new town in the whole of Europe referenced the challenges being presented to project development during this incredibly period of time. The question must be asked whether the state and local government are responsible for planning of new sustainable communities or whether we will continue to outsource this to private developers, whose only interest is in relation to their own site and their bottom line.
This committees ask that Chief Executive confirms what is deemed open for consideration in Part V planning applications. At last months meeting a discussion on providing opportunities to build IL into Lucan area are challenging and it would appear now that we are heavily reliant on designing IL into Part v as a way of providing IL for the area. This question seeks clarification on whether IL can be part of a Part V.
This committee seeks an update on the agreed motion passed previously in regard to carrying out an audit in the Adamstown area to ascertain the need for extending the Adamstown Community Centre to facilitate a Youth Cafe/Centre. Given the continued growth in the area in the young population and with the continuation of planned developments including the part8 development at Balgaddy and Foxborough area this committee requests the Chief Executive to examine the possibility of designing a new youth centre next to the Careline centre (opposite Kishoge CC) as this would be in keeping with the services already existing here and would be easily populated with the young citizens of the area.
To ask the manager for a further update on the situation with regards to the reopening of the Lucan Leisure Centre and any relevant and helpful information that can be offered with regards to addressing the growing concerns of both the staff and parents of the many children relying on the essential and affordable service rates offered by the Naíonra Mháirín in resecuring their original tenancy.
