That this Committee notes the informative article "A Gaff with a Bit of Class" about youth centres and cafes in The Irish Times of 7th February 2007, and requests the Manager to arrange a visit to The Gaff, Galway for Community Department officials and interested Councillors.  Perhaps an invitation could also be sent to the teachers and students of St Joseph's College, Lucan who participated in last year's Youth Café Transition Year Project to accompany Council representatives on the visit.

That the Manager would agree to coordinate with all relevant departments and all relevant authorities, the regular cleaning of Newcastle Village. In recent times, many Local Residents in Newcastle have to endure most untidy road and footpath surfaces which are in urgent need of immediate and regular cleaning.

That the Manager would report in detail on progress made with the Lucan Youth Café Project following consultation between the Council and various local authorities, including St. Joseph's College, St. Mary's Parish, Lucan Youth Centre and Young Entrepreneurs in response to my representations, including Motions to this Committee Meeting in 2006.

That this Committee thanks the Housing Department for providing a very informative site visit to the recently completed section of the Balgaddy Development, compliments the County Architect and the Department for the imaginative overall design, particularly of the enclosed cobblestone surfaced open area.  Can the Manager consider the installation of a small amount of playground equipment on the open space, following consultation with the new residents?
