a)Letter SENT to the Manager, Spawell Leisure Centre, on 25th February, 2010, as a result of a Motion passed at the Tallaght(2) ACM on 22nd February, 2010, in relation to the ongoing problem of golf balls being hit outside the perimeter of Spawell Golf Centre and placing people and property at risk of damage.

b)Letter SENT to the Minister of State, Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, on 25th February, 2010, as a result of a Motion passed at the Tallaght(2) ACM on 22nd February, 2010, in relation to a request for the amendment of the Local Government Act 2001, to allow for the granting of city status for Tallaght.

c)Letter SENT to the Manager, Bus Atha Cliath, on 2nd March, 2010, as a result of a Question submitted to the Tallaght(2) ACM on 22nd February, 2010, in relation to facilitating residents in the Walkinstown and Greenhills areas access to St James' Hospital, through the extension of the 123 route, the provision of a feeder bus to the LUAS line, or some other option.

"To ask the Manager to make a report to this Committee as to why the grey bins at the new St Aongus Estate infill houses are collected on Friday when the rest of St Aongus and Tymon North estates are collected on Thursday? Could the Manager also inform this Committee if there are any reports from bin crews regarding obstructions in cul de sacs, such as Tymon North Grove, that continually prevent the collection of grey bins at certain houses in that location and if such reports exist, what action does the Manager propose to take to overcome these difficulties?"

"To ask the Manager to consider the provision of a litter bin on the Tallaght Community School side of the footpath at the junction of Castle Lawns and Castletymon Road, and would the Manager inform this Committee if consideration has been given to the application by Virginia Heights Residents Assocation for the provision of a litter bin, to be located at the top of the black path at the green between Virginia Heights and Alderwood, in addition to the litter bins located at Springfield Shopping Centre, Aderwood?"

That the Manager will investigate the consistent problems being experienced by the ambulance services locating the GAA pitches in Clondalkin Community Centre (now incorporated into Corkagh Park). There is also an issue with emergency vehicles being able to access the pitches on softer ground and consideration might be given to a proper perimeter pathway.

That the Manager consider the closing of the right of way between St Ronan's Close/Way, Clondalkin. All Residents in the Close/ Way have signed a petition for the closure of the gap. In recent times it has been a focus for loitering and illegal dumping.

That this Area Committee notes the 44 possible actions to address problems of anti-social behaviour in and around Glenaulin Park as identified at a public meeting convened on 11th February by Palmerstown Community Council and requests the Manager to present a detailed report, for discussion, on those possible actions which fall under the remit of this council’s Parks Department including:

  • Permanently closing-off the park entrance at the eastern end of the rear laneway behind Culmore Road;
  • Closing some of the entrances to the park at night-time (only if they can be opened no later than 8am on the next morning);
  • Increasing the height of low boundary walls to the park;
  • Improving the Park Ranger service available to parks in Palmerstown through basing Park Rangers at a permanent depot at Waterstown Park;
  • Installing additional CCTV cameras in and around the park;
  • Thinning the hedgerows and vegetation around the park perimeter, in particular at Gaels field and Oak Court Lawn;
  • Introducing more regular litter-picking & cleansing of the park and the stream,
  • Greater co-operation with Dublin City Council on matters relating to the maintenance and security of the park.

And furthermore requests a representative of the Park's Department to attend the follow-up public meeting scheduled for April 15th.
