"That this Committee expresses it thanks to traffic engineering staff for providing proposals to the last meeting of this Committee to enhance ‘Safe Routes to School’ in the Lucan Road/Chapel Hill area; however noting the feedback from school parents, requests the Chief Executive:

  • To provide funding to widen the footpath on the north side of Lucan Road, immediately west of the entrance to St. Ed’s hospital, noting parents’ concerns that the proposal for raised kerb may present a trip hazard, particularly where groups of kids are walking together;
  • To conduct a Section 38 consultation later this year on the proposal for a redesign of the junction of Lucan Road and Chapel Hill to remove the slip road (while very welcome) so as to ensure a chance for input from the broader community."

"That this area committee requests the Chief Executive confirm a timeframe for commencement of construction of the playground at Waterstown Park, Palmerstown given that it was originally budgeted for in 2015 -  but instead funding went to Tymon North refurbishment - but is now firmly back on the agenda following the overwhelming support shown for it in the "300k Have Your Say" process; and also to outline what security measures will be put in place during construction and upon completion, given the recent experience at Griffeen Valley Park (which was raised by this Councillor on several occasions); and if a statement can be made on the matter."

"That the Chief Executive outlines his current position in relation to supporting a clubhouse for Esker Boxing club off Willsbrook Road, given that planning permission was granted on the site (without prejudice), to outline what would be required from the club to ensure such a facility can be built on the site under licence/lease (eg other clubs using it, financial contribution etc), to outline what discussions have taken place to date, and to examine whether there is sufficient space for an additional potential facility at the rear of the site under the current planning permission."
