CONFIRMATION AND RE-AFFIRMATION OF MINUTES

a) Minutes of Meeting 9th April 2018

Question
Meeting:
Submitted by:
Councillor L. O'Toole
Responsibility:
William Purcell

"To ask the Chief Executive, further to my motions raised in relation to the realignment of the island at the two roundabouts along the Esker Road/Griffeen road, this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to design additional safety features at both of these locations. As previously discussed the old islands on the roundabouts were left in place when a new desired crossing location was installed with the cycle lane upgrades. These locations have a very high footfall in the evenings and the weekends and are also used regularly by school going children.

To ask that considerations is also given to the lack of a footpath on one side of the road if this area could be improved."

Motion
Meeting:
Submitted by:
Councillor T. Gilligan
Responsibility:
William Purcell

"That the Chief Executive addresses traffic going right onto Station Road from Ninth Lock Road at Esso Station. Perhaps remove 5 foot off the footpath, which is very wide. Trucks turning right hold up all the traffic on the Ninth Lock Road."

Question
Meeting:
Submitted by:
Councillor L. O'Toole
Responsibility:
William Purcell

"To ask the Chief Executive to locate speed indicator signs in locations previously raised as areas with safety issues:

  1. Esker Road between Griffeen Park and Finnstown Abbey, the bend in the road results in a blind spot when exiting the estate and this location has had an increase in footfall due to the sports activities in the area.

  2. Hillcrest Junction this is due to the lack of awareness and or carelessness of road users as they approach and leave the lights at this junction.

  3. Other areas that the council management deem necessary."

Submitted by:
Councillor L. O'Toole
Responsibility:

"That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to report on the current status of the handover of the newly completed Adamstown Community/Sports Hall and to review reasons for delays to date. There have been many meeting held over the last two years and plans were put into place to ensure that these unnecessary delays would not arise and it is regretful that both the school and community have to look at a community hall in their locality and not be in a position to access it.
The committee also acknowledges the work and commitment by the local community reps and volunteers that have worked on the many issues and challenges over the years."
Question

Submitted by:
Councillor L. O'Toole

"Following my recent motion and further discussions with Lucan Harriers regarding the deficit in funding for the perimeter needed to secure the newly planned running track which will be of great benefit to the Lucan and surrounding area, this Area Committee asks the Chief Executive to arrange a meeting with the relevant persons to discuss funding. The proposed grants offered will be either too late or result in the club having to provide 50% to cover the costs which is not possible considering the additional unforeseen costs already placed on the club?"
