To ask the Chief Executive to arrange an inspection of the two large trees outside 11 Moorfield Avenue and immediate works be carried out?

These trees are causing huge concern in the estate and as Moorfield is not listed on the 2017-2019 programme it could be some time before these concerns are addressed.

"That this Area Committee calls upon the Chief Executive to ensure that the relevant documentation being sought by South Dublin County Council to complete the transfer of Orchard Lodge premisis is done in an efficient manner as is possible.

That this matter should now be expedited as a matter of urgency due to the necessary need for this facility to be provided for use by senior citizens in the Clondalkin, Dublin 22 area."

"A condition of the planning permission granted in 2003 for the Orchard Lodge apartment block in Clondalkin (SD03A/0271) was that there would be a community meeting space (Senior Citizens Centre) provided. Sixteen years later the Community Space has never been fitted out or made accessible to community groups. Recent questions and correspondence with SDCC has elicited the following updates as to the situation:

"The Council's Law Department are working to finalise the remaining legal compliance issues that will allow the Council to complete the transfer of ownership on the premises.

The matter currently rests with the vendor for the submission of various documents for review by the Council's Law Department"

"Complexities in progressing the lease arrangement on the community facility have arisen which have led to delay. Documentation confirming compliance in relation to building regulations is awaited. The receipt of this documentation is necessary to allow the transfer of the legal title of the unit to the Council. The Council will continue to endeavour to complete the transfer as soon as possible."

The foot dragging wrt to making the space ready for use is a cause of irritation and concern for local senior citizens organisations in Clondalkin. For their benefit and for the benefit of the elected representatives, that this Area Committee is informed by council officials the following:

What complexities have arisen with regards to progressing the lease arrangement?

What precise documents relation to compliance with building regulations are outstanding from the vendor?

Does the council staff envisage these documents being received in the next three months?

A condition of the planning permission granted in 2003 for the Orchard Lodge apartment block in Clondalkin (SD03A/0271) was that there would be a community meeting space (Senior Citizens Centre) provided. Sixteen years later the Community Space has never been fitted out or made accessible to community groups. As part of the Clondalkin 300K Have Your Say initiative many local groups sought to have the fit out of the meeting space listed for consideration as part of the 300K initiative. These same groups were however convinced not to apply to include the community meeting space in the  300k initiative as the money necessary would be found elsewhere in the Council budget.  Can the Council confirm that the fit out of the social space is planned or should local groups have insisted on including the space in the 300k Have Your Say initiative?

"During periods of prolonged snow fall such as the so-called 'Beast from the East' in 2018, South Dublin County Council ensures to the best of its ability that roads are kept clear. Less emphasis is placed on clearing footpaths. This choice discriminates against pedestrians. Can the Council investigate acquiring plough or brush attachments for the fleet of sweeping vehicles that operate from Clondalkin so that the footpaths in the area can be cleared in the event of prolonged snowfall? It is acknowledged that some footpaths were cleared manually in Clondalkin by South Dublin County Council staff during the 'Beast from the East'. See attached photos of possible vehicle attachments?"
