Questions
To ask the Manager for an update regarding the improvement works requested in Méile an Rí, Balgaddy at the meeting between residents, the CPLN, Councillors and the Head of the Housing Department on 24th November 2009?
To ask the Manager to have plans in place to provide alternative heating for tenants when parts for a broken system are not available?
To ask the Manager to report on the Housing Department’s response to proposals from the ‘Balgaddy Working Together’ group with regards to the vacant crèche building in Méile an Rí as outlined to elected members and to the Director of Services at a meeting on 24th November 2009?
To ask the Manager to provide a further update on works to the vacant unit at Tór an Rí for provision of youth services facility for the Balgaddy area and to advise on a likely opening date for this facility?
To ask the Manager for an update on the feasibility study currently being undertaken by the Architectural Services Department to assess options for redevelopment for social housing of the site of the former shop unit at St. Finian’s estate, Lucan?
To ask the Manager to report on the condition of the apartments at Foxdene, Balgaddy in relation to dampness, condensation and ventilation, how widespread is the situation and what has been done to address the health and safety concerns of residents?
To ask the Manager for an up to date report on the provision of a youth facility at Balgaddy?
To ask the Manager for a report on the number of the Council's houses in Greenfort and Shancastle Estates which were refurbished in 2009 under the Council's Refurbishment Project, and if he will advise on the continuation into 2010 of the Programme?
To ask the Manager if he can advise on the number of Council tenants in Arthur Griffith Park, St. Finian's and Airlie Heights estates who have applied for and are waiting for replacement windows?

That the Manager presents a report on the dereliction of numbers 2 & 4 Lealand Walk, Clondalkin and the efforts being made to sort out this problem.
That the Manager presents a report on the plans for the two houses at the entrance to Liscarne Estate, Clondalkin.
That the Manager would present a report providing information on the number of social housing units completed and allocated to applicants during 2009 in the Lucan and Clondalkin Electoral Areas, and the anticipated number of completions and allocations in the same areas in 2010?
That the Manager outline how repairs to heating systems in South Dublin County Councils housing are undertaken and explain why some tenants had to endure the Christmas/ New Year period without their heating system working.

To ask the Manager to report on the high number of private houses in the Hazelhatch/Brownstown/Peamount area that currently operate on a septic tank and are there any plans to link this area to the main sewage system?
To thank the Litter Warden and Cleansing Unit for the recent removal of a significant amount of dumped material from beside the N4 footbridge next to Mount Andrew Estate; and in seeking to maintain the cleanliness of this area along the N4. Can the Manager arrange the installation of a litter bin at the nearby bus-stop, just west of Ballyowen Lane, as this area remains heavily littered and is located on a well-used walking route to/from a nearby filling station/convenience store?
To ask the Manager, further to my previous queries, to advise if a drainage misconnections survey had been completed with regards to Rossberry Estate, Lucan; to report on the survey’s findings and conclusions and to advise on any actions proposed in response to this survey?
To ask the Manager to report on the operation over the past 12 months of the public main sewage network in the Castle Road area of South Lucan, serving the estates of Abbeywood/Abbeydale, Castle Riada, Fforster, Colthurst, Rochfort and Earslfort; to include details of the number of blockages reported or found in that period; and to further advise on any survey, repair or improvement works currently planned or proposed for the sewage network in this area.
To ask the Manager if he will request the Environmental Services Department to implement a thorough clean-up of Quarryvale Park, as soon as weather conditions allow for it to be done effectively?
To ask the Manager for an updated report on the Council's intentions to cease re-cycling operations at the Esker Recycling Centre, and if the question of Bord na Mona paying for the material from the Centre has been raised with the Bord before decision to close is implemented.

That the Manager provide an up to date report on the cleansing of gullies in the Palmerstown and Lucan areas of this County and if he is satisfied that all fire hydrants in the area are accessible and easily located?
That this Area Committee recommends that South Dublin County Council supports the establishment of a Community Cemetery Committee for Esker Cemetery in Lucan whose function would be to assist South Dublin County Council in the maintenance and future improvement of the cemetery. This pilot project would advise the development of a Community Cemetery Committee model to be rolled-out for the Council’s other burial grounds.
That this Area Committee agrees that the challenges of confronting environmental issues, including growing litter problems, are helped by the Council installing and servicing as many litter bins as possible at key strategic locations, for example at bus stops, in our parks, at schools etc. Would the Manager present a detailed report on what improvements in litter bin installations are scheduled in the areas within the Lucan/Clondalkin Area Committee for 2010.
That the Manager presents a report on the operation of the Bottle Banks at Palmerstown Shopping Centre and includes what progress has been made to address the issues arising from the unsightly appearance of the site that is a constant source of nuisance for local residents as highlighted by me on previous occasions.

To ask the Manager to report on this Council’s involvement to date in any efforts to progress implementation of the recommendations contained in the “Analysis of the Needs of Older People in North Clondalkin and Palmerstown” prepared by Collier Broderick Management Consultants and published in March 2008?
To ask the Manager if there has been any progress in negotiations with the developer, following the recent meeting between representatives, the developer, Palmerstown Community Council, the Manager and Lucan EA councillors?

That the Manager presents an updated report regarding the upgrade works at Neilstown Community Centre for the Neilstown Boxing Club including commencement and completion dates.
That this Committee, noting the continuing closure of the Government’s Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme, requests the Manager to present a detailed report on any and all other feasible options to fund provision of the proposed Lucan Swimming Pool.
That the Manager will agree to find a suitable trading area for an outdoor farmer's type market in the Clondalkin Village area.
That this Committee calls on the Ministers responsible for Community Affairs; Deputy Eamon O'Cuiv, Minister of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Deputy John Curran, Minister of State to reverse their decision to withdraw funding from the Dolcain Project and the North Clondalkin Community Development Project with immediate effect and invites South Dublin County Council to issue a similar call.
That the Manager report on Community Worker staffing levels for the Lucan and Clondalkin areas now and into the rest of the year.
That the Manager would present a detail report to this Area Committee for discussion on what facilities are available, including plans to make a new facility available, for drama groups, performing arts groups etc., within the Lucan/Clondalkin Area. Would the Manager agree that the provision of a multi-purpose facility within the area of this committee would be of enormous benefit in facilitating many local groups?
That this Committee, in seeking to support the ongoing efforts of this Council to promote pro-social behavior in estates, both council and private, across the Lucan and Clondalkin areas, requests the Manager to present a detailed report, for discussion, on this Council’s efforts to improve access for residents and in particular for children and young to sporting facilities and sports training programmes, and to examine opportunities for greater engagement with local sporting organisations and schools in developing programmes for areas suffering from significant problems of anti-social behaviour.

That this Committee agrees that the Manager writes to the Railway Procurement Agency to get a report on whether or not there will be a Park & Ride facility at the Saggart Luas Terminus and if so, when it is likely to be opened.
That this Committee requests the Manager to write to Dublin Bus and seek detailed information on the regular vandalism of bus shelters within the Lucan/Clondalkin area, including costs associated with the replacement of vandalised bus shelters. What measures can be introduced to help prevent this vandalism, including consideration to the introduction of vandal proof bus shelters as is the case in other jurisdictions.
That this Committee agrees to write to the Permanent TSB Bank urging it to keep its branch in Main Street, Clondalkin open rather than merging it with the branch in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.
That this Committee contacts An Post to move the post box in St. Patrick's Estate from the wall on St. Patrick's Road to the front of the estate.
That this Committee calls for the provision of the long promised Library/Digital Hub for Palmerstown be brought to fulfillment during the current financial year.
That the Manager writes to the Minister for Education & Science to request him to commit to a firm and clear timeframe, preferably commencing this year, for the planned design, planning and construction of a much-needed permanent 16-classroom building for Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada, Lucan on the site already acquired under the terms of a 99-year lease from Co. Dublin VEC.
That this Area Committee requests the Manager to write to the Minister for Education and Science and request that the Minister would agree that at the beginning of this new decade, it is time to end the thirty year wait and finally acknowledge the need for Educate Together Second-Level Schools, particularly in Lucan, which has the biggest concentration of Educate Together National Schools in Ireland with five local national schools, and would the Minister finally grant patronage status for second-level school applications to Educate Together.
