Questions
To ask the Manager to replace/provide litter bins on Griffeen Road, Lucan. Residents in Elm Wood, Griffeen Glen, Ash Park and Moy Glas have requested that litter bins be replaced/provided owing to the increased litter issues on Griffeen Road, Lucan?
To ask the Manger to have the litter bins installed as promised at Oak Court Grove and to have the space between the footpath and the railings along Oak Court Avenue tidied up, cleared and maintained to a satisfactory standard as it has become very derelict and neglected (there are no houses on that side) in recent years?
To compliment Management for the work to date and to ask the Manager for an update on the removal of graffiti and rubbish from the back lanes of Palmerstown and to report in particular on the passage leading from the Covert to Kennelsfort Road? This area is a terrible eye sore and most depressing for the many pedestrians who use it on a daily basis; the laneway to the rear of Wheatfield Road/Oak Court Estate and the laneway to the rear of Glenmaroon Road/Palmerstown and the laneway between Palmerstown Avenue and the N4 including the shrubbery along the N4.
To ask the Manager that the area around Cherrywood gate at Corkagh Park, Clondalkin be cleaned on a regular basis? Residents say there is a litter problem in that area.
To ask the Manager for an updated report on the actions taken by the Council to address the matters raised by the representative of Sarsfield Park Residents Association at the Deputation meeting last October?

This Committee request that the Newcastle Cemetery be included as a Designated Casual Trading Site. A number of local residents have reported to me that the inclusion of the Cemetery at Newcastle as a Designated Casual Trading Site would be of great local benefit particularly by way of sale of flowers for those residents visiting the graves of loved ones. In addition at a time of spiraling unemployment this would offer the opportunity to a person to gain casual employment. This Committee now requests the Manager to commence the process to have the Cemetery at Newcastle included as a Designated Casual Trading Site.
That this Committee requests South Dublin County Council to remove offensive graffiti in the Cherrywood and Kilmahuddrick areas as a priority.
That a report be brought to this Committee concerning the recurring rat problem at Nangor Crescent, Clondalkin, adjacent to the Telecom site.
That this Committee demands a complete roll out of the brown bin in the Clondalkin area at the earliest possible convenience.
That a report be presented as to how this Council can effectively deal with the rat infestation at 1 Nangor Crescent, Clondalkin given the fact that the owner is an absentee landlord and that rats breed in this back garden which is full of large overgrown trees which also blocks neighbouring houses light.

That this Committee requests the Manager to write to the Minister for Social and Family Affairs and requests that a suitable and adequate local welfare Office be opened in Lucan. As local unemployment figures soar, Lucan residents continue to be inconvenienced by having to travel to register in the Welfare Office in Clondalkin. In addition the small sign-on centre in
That this Committee recommends that South Dublin County Council writes to the Minister for the Environment, Heritage & Local Government asking him:-
a. To ban the sale of drinks in glass containers from off-licences on the grounds that much of the glass from off-licences ends up being strewn around parks and open spaces.
b. To introduce a financial incentive to return glass drink containers to shops.
That the Council address the increasing traffic congestion and parking problem by writing to the Gardaí, and Department of Social & Family Affairs due to the increasing numbers attending the Clondalkin Social Welfare Office in Clondalkin.
That this Committee requests the Manager to write to the Department of Social and Family Affairs to propose that, as there are now 3000 Lucan residents signing on the Live Register, over half of whom have become unemployed or failed to find employment in the last 12 months, the Department allocates additional staff to the Lucan Social Welfare Office, seeks more suitable accommodation to serve as a Social Welfare Office in Lucan, and immediately take action to provide a Local Employment Service in Lucan, and that the Manager offers accommodation , at a commercial rent, for a Lucan LES office in Ballyowen Castle Community Centre.
That this Committee is seriously concerned and alarmed at the refusal of the Department of Education and Science to give approval for the urgently needed second level school in Lucan, and believes that an investment at this time would greatly alleviate the worry and concerns felt by parents and provide much needed employment in a community already experiencing the effects of rampant job losses and to ask that the Manager to write to the Minister for Education and Science urging that he re-examine the strong case made by the community, reverse the decision and approve the long awaited school.
That this Committee, contacts the Minister of Health & Children to undergo a thorough investigation regarding links between cancer and telephone masts and to carry out a health survey to relate the number of masts in North Clondalkin and the closeness of these masts to local estates and its effects. This Council must also make it a policy in the development plan so that no new masts are erected in the area NOR an increase in bandwidth for transmission of data.
That this Committee notes that almost €20 million was expended by the Council in providing a QBC/Bus Lanes on the Outer Ring Road, is concerned about the difficulties experienced by Lucan residents in accessing by public transport Council facilities and services in Clondalkin and Tallaght, including the Rua/Red Arts Centre, Civic Theatre, The Big Picture, Tallaght Stadium, and other South Dublin organisations such as IT Tallaght and Tallaght(AMNCH) Hospital, and requests the Manager to write to the Minister for Transport and Dublin Bus requesting immediate action on the provision of Bus Services from Lucan to Tallaght.

Questions
To ask the Manager for an updated report on the proposed cycle track in Corkagh Park?
To ask the Manager to agree to provide adequate and secure protective fencing at the open space on Hayden's Lane, Lucan, opposite the entrance to the housing development at Hayden's Lane Place given the safety risks for children from the locality, including Hayden's Lane Place, who from time-to-time may access these lands, particularly as there is ponding/flooding on these lands and often times in winter these waters are frozen as did happen recently? In such circumstances there is a serious health and safety issue for the local residential community, particularly young children. This Committee requests the Manager to introduce appropriate fencing at this open space.
To compliment the Manger for the work that is being done to make Waterstown Park available to the public and to ask for a firm date for completion of the car park, entrance and other works that will help make this wonderful amenity available to the people of Palmerstown and the wider community? It is now over thirty years since this park came into public ownership and it has lagged behind other parks in terms of availability to the community and consequently has been taken over mostly by individuals who engage in anti-social type of activity.
To ask the Manger to give some indication of any plans that are in train to provide a children's play area in Palmerstown? Can the Manager report in particular on what became of the proposal of a few years back to put one at Glenaulin Park/Gaels field which would be overlooked by houses in Glenaulin Green Estate (which was promised in lieu of open space in Glenaulin Green Estate and which was the subject of a levy at the time) and which would fit in well now with the recent provision of St Patrick's Pavilion and the soon to be developed Palmerstown United changing facilities and the general improvements that the Parks Department (please pass on congratulations to them) have made to Glenaulin Park over the years and which in addition to providing such a necessary facility for children, would bring more people into the park and help eliminate unsocial activities?
To ask the Manager for an update regarding the proposed cycle path for Corkagh Park, Clondalkin?
To ask the Manager for a site meeting at Woodavens, Clondalkin to assess what way would the agreed right of way closure be carried out?
To ask the Manager what works (removing tree) etc. have been carried out at 6 Ashwood Avenue, Clondalkin.
To ask the Manager that the gate of Corkagh Park at Cherrywood Lawns be opened for 8.30am which would allow local parents to bring their children directly to their schools and thus avoid a much longer journey?
To ask the Manager if he will advise what maintenance work will be carried out by the Parks Department in Lucan Demesne and Liffey Valley Park in 2009?
To ask the Manager if the Parks Department will co-operate with the Residents Association of Griffeen Glen Estate, Lucan in providing engraved granite stones for the entrances to the estate?
To ask the Manager if he will investigate the possibility of producing a leaflet for distribution to households, environmental groups, and residents association in the Lucan and Palmerstown Electoral Areas which would provide advice and guidance on how planting in house gardens, estate green spaces can be used to promote bio-diversity, in particular of birds, butterflies etc.?

That this Committee requests South Dublin County Council to support Lucan Sarsfield's GAA in its efforts to provide All-Weather Playing Facilities at its grounds at 12th Lock, Lucan, following the club's disappointments at not securing All-Weather Playing Facilities at the Grange Lands, Lucan after four years of voluntary efforts. In particular would the Manager commit to supporting Lucan Sarsfield GAA in the appropriate way in having the already-granted Lotto Funding of Euro 250,000 for All-Weather Playing Facilities, transferred from the Grange Lands, Lucan, to Lucan Sarsfield's own grounds at the 12th Lock, Lucan.
That the Manager produce a report as to how South Dublin County Council might best protect:-
(a) The large green area at the centre of Lealand Estate, Clondalkin from incursions of vehicles.
(b) The green area between Lindisfarne and Lealand Estates, Clondalkin from incursions of vehicles.
That the Manager would report on the legal transfer of the lands at Fonthill, Old Lucan Road, which were subject to the Planning Permission S01A/0539 granted to Blackrock Medical Partners, and which were indicated in Drawing No. 2465 – PL02 Revision C. Under condition 18 these lands were to be transferred to the ownership of South Dublin County Council prior to the commencement of the development.
Under condition 17, before development commences rights of way for future public access and maintenance shall be provided and dedicated to the County Council between the public road at the roundabout and the lands referred to above.
Will the Manager
a. Confirm that the legal transfer of the lands has been completed and
b. Indicate when the public right of way will be opened

That this Committee requests the Manager to again write to the Minister for Education and Science to request the Minister to show interest in the vacant lands adjacent to Lucan Educate Together National School. Following my earlier representation the Department has indicated that it may pursue the acquisition of the lands currently in the ownership of South Dublin County Council but to-date no firm proposal has been made by the Department. These lands are now urgently required by Lucan Educate Together National School which is currently filled to capacity and needs two more classrooms to accommodate their children. This Committee today requests the Minister for Education and Science to respond immediately and fast-track the acquisition of these lands as a matter of great urgency so as to assist Lucan Educate Together National School in its efforts to provide education for all its children.
That the Manager outlines where he will get the €2.5 m funding for the Round Tower Heritage Site, Clondalkin.
That this Council liaises with the H.S.E. with regard to the senior citizens facility at the Kelland Homes property in Clondalkin Village and that the impasse regarding staffing etc. be discussed with a view to having the facility run on a part time basis rather than leave the facility unused.
