That the Manager would agree to lower the height of the hedge that is currently restricting the view of the All-Weather Facility at Weston Hockey Club, from the Newcastle Road, Lucan. Having consulted with Weston Hockey Club and the local residents on Esker Drive, there is a shared view that the height of this hedge is assisting those who are the cause of the escalating Anti-Social Behaviour in this area of Griffeen Valley Park, including the ongoing damages to this wonderful All-Weather Facility at Weston Hockey Club.
That the Manager present a report on the lighting intended for St. Cuthbert's Park between Melrose and Lindisfarne Estates. When it will be put in place and are there any delays which are still standing in the way?
That this Committee deplores the failure to enforce on the developer responsible the cutting and maintenance of the grass on part of the right hand side verge of the road from Griffeen Avenue to the entrances of Tullyhall/Rossberry/Hayden's Park estates and now requests the Manger to have the Council cut the grass and tidy up the verge, as the failure to address this issue for over a year is now reflecting poorly on the council and Lucan Councillors.
That the Manager agrees to have the glass cleared out of the park at the top of Monastery Heath Estate.
Community
Questions
To ask if there is any leeway for voluntary soccer clubs which cater for very young players from disadvantaged areas to have costs of using all weather facilities reduced.
To ask the Manager if he will make a report on the arrangement under which the Council has acquired or secured a lease on the new Community Centre in Palmerstown, if he can advise if the transfer of the Lease to the Council lease of the Centre relates to any conditions in previously granted Planning Permission, and if he can confirm that it is not the case that the Centre is being handed over "free" to the Council by any property owner/developer?

That the Manager world present a full and detailed report for discussion on the history of, and progress made in the provision of the two community facilities at the Palmerstown Shopping Centre, both of which are long awaited by the people of Palmerstown:
1. The Palmerstown Library
2. The Palmerstown Community Centre
In relation to the Palmerstown Community Centre, would the Manager include in this report details of why this matter has been at a standstill for so long, and how can this matter be progressed, specifically regarding the complete fit-out of the Community Centre. What assurance can the Manager provide today to the people of Palmerstown that such facilities will be made available at long last, and within what time-scale?
That the Manager would examine the feasibility of a suitable room/part of a room in Ballyowen Castle Community Centre being allocated for use as an Employment Information Office to one or more relevant state or local agencies, including the CPLN Partnership, FAS, Clondalkin LES, so as to facilitate the provision of information, support and advice services to Lucan residents who have lost jobs or are seeking jobs, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
That the Manager would present a progress report on the Youth Services Centre at the Griffeen Centre, Lucan since its official opening in June 2008, including the provision of funding, the various activities, and the general level of services for the young people of Lucan.
Environment
Questions
To ask the Manager to have litter bins erected on Orchard Road near the exit from Aras Chronain and Scoil na Camoige?
To ask the Manager to install a litter bin at the bus stop on Castle Road, Lucan, that is located between the entrances to Castle Riada Drive and Castle Riada Grove? This area has become the subject of increased litter problems, including the gardens of local residents. The introduction of a litter bin at this bus stop will be of great assistance.
To ask the Manager for an updated report on the introduction of the new electronic chip tag system in the Lucan Electoral Area and if there is a procedure to register bins available to households who have not registered so far?

That the Manager would report in detail on the upgrading of the water infrastructure in homes in certain estates, including the installation of Water Metres. What is the purpose of these works, specifically the provision of Water Metres? What estates have been treated in the Lucan and Palmerstown areas, and what further estates will be treated and within what time-scales?
That the Manager would report on why the many black bins are not being returned to footpaths having been emptied, as is required? This Committee request the Manager to carry out regular spot-checks and report back at the next Environmental Services Area Committee Meeting. That the Manager would agree to request of the Health Services Executive, a visit for Councillors and Council Officials to the newly constructed and recently opened Addiction Treatment Centre on St. Loman's Road, Lucan.
That the Council address the increasing traffic congestion and parking problem by writing to the Gardaí, and Department of Social & Family Affairs due to the increasing numbers attending the Clondalkin Social Welfare Office in Clondalkin.
That the Lucan-Clondalkin Area Committee compliments the Manager and all Council employees for their commitment to maintain the provision of vital services to residents of Lucan and Clondalkin in the face of reduction of available funding, and in a context where SDCC receives from Government the lowest contribution in the country per resident from the Local Government Fund, recognises the flexibility demonstrated by staff in regard to work practices and productivity, and utterly rejects any proposal by Government to unilaterally cut the wages of SDCC employees, and requests the Manager to convey this expression of solidarity with our employees to the Minister for Finance.
That this Committee request the Manager to write to the Minister for Finance asking that the recent pension levies imposed on the public sector be revised and that a more just system be devised and put in place to deal with public finances that is fair and equitable across all sections of society.
