To ask the Manager to report on the Christmas Tree Collection Service for this Christmas. Given the anti-social acts of setting fire to many Christmas Trees which were awaiting collection on local greens and open spaces, including in Beech Park and Hillcrest in Lucan, and Woodfarm in Palmerstown, and given the serious inconvenience and threat to the safety of Local Residents living nearby, would the Manager agree to explore alternative collection points for Christmas Trees for next year so that this invaluable and much appreciated service can be maintained by the Council without causing the same stress to local Residents who live in close proximity to greens and open spaces.

In the circumstances where much of the litter is clearly as a result of the McDonalds Fast Food Outlet's wrappings being disgarded in Lucan Demesne, I consider it reasonable to request McDonalds to sponsor the supply and installation of such New Litter Bins in Lucan Demesne.

That the Manager would report in detail on what works are scheduled, including time-scales for these works, to make all footpaths accessible for wheelchair users, disabled residents, senior citizens and parents pushing buggies. That the Lucan/Clondalkin Area  Committee recommends to South Dublin County Council a policy whereby our County Council would purchase back houses in Council estates from elderly residents in return for them moving into rented sheltered accommodation.
Mot (20)
Submitted by:
Councillor E. Tuffy
Responsibility:
Philip Murphy
That this Committee is of the view that the Council's present Housing Policy will not adequately address the need to provide a variety of supported housing options for older people, partly because of competing demands on limited Council resources and partly because of an absence of Government policy on the acknowledged sense of schemes to enable older people to continue to live , with necessary supports, in their own homes rather than move to the dependent environment of typical nursing homes, and requests the Manager to refer this policy issue to the Housing SPC for its consideration.
