“Report on Draft Work Programme – items submitted by members

That this Committee review the methods of assessment used by this Council in considering requests for the installation of Signalised Pedestrian Crossings on the existing road network and to request specifically that this review examines the need for a more strategic approach to the assessment of requests relating to roads in the vicinity of schools and shops, where the proposed provision of a new Signalised Pedestrian Crossing could reliably be expected to increase the level of pedestrian activity in that area and in particular to increase the numbers of children (and parents) walking to school."
