"Could the Department of Transport please explain; rightly so, Grants are being made available for larger and medium buses involved in the transportation of school children to schools to be upgraded. But unfortunately, they have left out the upgrading of the smaller transit buses, which are very common in rural Ireland. And, there is no assistance whatsoever made available to bus operators to improve these. I think this is a grossly unfair situation. And I have been contacted by many small bus operators in the County who are extremely upset at this development. I belief if necessary a 'deputation' should go to Dublin to meet with the Minister to discuss this issue and to highlight the fact that it is fine for people in Dublin, where it is all larger buses, but in our area it is a completely different situation. And, the lives of our young people should have the same importance as the lives of younger people in the cities of the Country." I would appreciate it if you would bring it to the attention of all your Members.
