"That the Manager designate the parking bay adjacent to St. Mary's Boys N.S. on the Grange Road as a safe pull in facility for parents dropping off children in the mornings - the parking bay is presently being used as a park-and-ride facility for motorists taking the bus to town."

REPORT:

This parking area was provided as a park-and-ride facility for the Rathfarnham QBC, and funded accordingly by the DTO. The layout as designed allowed for limited set-down by parents dropping their children to the near-by school but was never intended solely for that purpose. The present use of the car-park is consistent with the policies set out in the DTO Strategy Document, A Platform For Change, and its associated objectives to maximise modal shift from the private car to public transport. The internal layout will be re-examined, however, to see if the school set-down area can be more clearly delineated.
