COMHAIRLE CHONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE 2

MOTION No. 11
MOTION: Councillor M. Árdagh
"That the Manager take on board the concerns of the Cherryfield Residents Association in relation to the ongoing dumping and fly-tipping in the laneways in Beechfield/Cherryfield, particularly the laneway from Beechfield Road to Cromwellsfort Road and will he devise a scheme to carry out clean-ups and resurfacing of all the laneways in the area, on a phased basis over the remainder of the term of the current Council, and will he consult with the members of the Cherryfield Residents Association in the next month to devise this plan and work out the implementation of the plan, so that the residents can reclaim their laneways for this own convenience."
REPORT:
An examination will be undertaken to determine which laneways in the Beechfield/Cherryfield area have been cleaned in the past year, and to draw up a list of those which have not been cleaned in recent times. Arrangements will then be made to clean those laneways which have not been recently cleaned. It should be noted that the Litter Warden in the area inspects these laneways on a regular basis and following from her inspections, she arranges for clean up of dumped materials by the cleansing section as the need arises.
The issue of re-surfacing of laneways is an issue for the Council’s road maintenance section and the matter has been referred to that section for attention.
