MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor S. O'Hara

That this Area Committee launches a Village Enhancement Scheme for Rathcoole, with the aim of investing in the village while also addressing and alleviating ongoing traffic congestion issues as outlined in the traffic analysis completed by SDCC.

REPORT:

SDCC is fully supportive of delivering village and district centre enhancement schemes across the county. SDCC are currently at design stage for two ambitious village enhancement schemes in Tallaght and Clondalkin and also a district centre enhancement in Neilstown. Unfortunately current resources would not enable the undertaking of any further schemes until these schemes are substantially progressed.

In the context of Rathcoole there is currently a significant report being prepared for traffic patterns in the west of the county. Understanding the traffic needs and future road network/patterns in the vicinity of Rathcoole would be a critical step in setting the parameters for any future village enhancement scheme. Currently this report is not finalised so the necessary information is not available.
