MOTION: Councillor W. Carey

That this Area Committee request the Council to produce a report for discussion on the future plans for the Corkagh Park Lakes and further agree to a have a scoping meeting with the 'Corkagh Lakes Project' group to discuss a pilot community stewardship model for the lakes.

REPORT:

The future development and management of the lakes is guided by the approved Corkagh Park Masterplan, which sets out a programme of works for the park and its environmental assets, including the lakes. The Council's focus remains on progressing the objectives and projects identified within the Masterplan.

The Council is willing to facilitate a meeting with representatives of the Corkagh Lakes Project regarding their proposals and to outline the objectives of the Corkagh Park Masterplan.

Any matters arising from this engagement can be considered in the context of the ongoing implementation of the Corkagh Park Masterplan and the long-term management of Corkagh Park.
