QUESTION NO.

QUESTION: Councillor J. Sinnott

To ask the Chief Executive to outline progress on the delivery of new community infrastructure in areas experiencing significant population growth throughout the county?

REPLY:

New community infrastructure is delivered alongside population and housing growth, guided by Census, CYPSC, planning and County Development Plan data.

Current projects in these growing areas include the delivery of Kilcarbery Community Centre, Citywest Library, Citywest Community Centre and Crèche, Citywest Youth Space, and planned community, sports, library and arts facilities in Killinarden, Clonburris, Adamstown and Ballycullen.

More than €12 million has delivered park and open-space improvements in West Tallaght, including Killinarden, Jobstown, Whitestown Stream and Whitestown Way. Butler McGee Park is at tender evaluation stage, while Quarryvale Park has been upgraded and works on Kiltipper Park is progressing.

Sports investment includes completed 3G pitches at Airlie and Sean Walsh parks, three further pitches at design stage at Greenhills Park and the provision of two pitches in Clonburris SDZ while other sites are currently being examined to deliver facilities in areas of growing population. The €12 million Pavilions Programme covers ten locations, with Griffeen Valley ready for activation, Corkagh nearing commissioning and five sites at tender stage.

Further investment supports improved facilities for tennis, padel, bowling, basketball, skateboarding, BMX and allotments across the County.

Through the Capital Programme, the Council will continue phased delivery of accessible community, library, cultural, sporting, recreational and amenities in key growth areas.
