QUESTION: Councillor J. Spear
To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update on the proposed transport hubs within South Dublin County, including the current status of each project, the identification of suitable lands where applicable, and the anticipated timeline for the commencement of works to provide additional car parking.
REPLY:
The sustainable transport buildings study is currently progressing through the development of the methodology, design guidance, building typologies and concept design work, alongside consideration of appropriate funding, delivery, operational and maintenance models.
The overall aim of the study is to examine the potential of strategically located, shared mobility facilities that can accommodate services such as EV charging, car sharing, secure cycle parking and micromobility infrastructure with some additional car parking.
The next stages involve applying this methodology to three case study areas, where suitable locations will be examined to determine their potential to accommodate Sustainable Transport Buildings, identify preferred approaches and develop concept designs, phasing and implementation pathways.
An update was recently provided to the Planning and Transport SPC on the status and progression of the study. Further updates will be provided as the study progresses.
