QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor P. Holohan

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the status of the Christmas crib approved by Council following the adoption of Councillor McMahon's motion last year.

REPLY:

The council has identified a location in Parthalán Place to host the Christmas crib. An initial meeting has already been held with members of a local men’s shed who have indicated that they are willing to produce an outdoor crib. The crib must be capable of withstanding weather conditions, and be designed for easy assembly and dismantling. The men’s shed were also asked to incorporate solar-powered lighting, which they will explore as part of the design. The men’s shed have been asked to prepare a draft layout and design approach and submit it to the council.

In the meantime, the council has identified a weather proofed nativity set and expect to purchase within the next few weeks, pending receipt of design concepts.
