QUESTION NO.8

QUESTION: Councillor T. McDonald

Can you bring forward plans for Ballyowen Park, as a headed item for the October ACM meeting please?

REPLY:

The most significant development proposed for Ballyowen Park in the near future is the provision of a new playground. This project is currently scheduled to progress in 2027 and, as such, it would be premature to present a Headed Item on the proposal at this stage.

The majority of other works undertaken within the park are operational in nature and relate to the ongoing maintenance and management of the facility. These include grass cutting, pitch maintenance, litter management, footpath repairs and upgrades, and other routine maintenance works.

Smaller-scale improvement projects funded through the revenue budget are considered as part of the annual Public Realm Improvement Works Programme, which is presented as a Headed Item to the ACM each January. Should Elected Members wish to propose specific projects or improvements for Ballyowen Park, these can be submitted for consideration as part of the preparation of next year's programme.

The current Public Realm Improvement Works Programme includes the following projects for Ballyowen Park:

  1. Upgrade of the Lucan/Newlands Road entrance to improve accessibility.
  2. Path upgrade works within the park.
