QUESTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the Public Lighting and Tannoy system along the Grand Canal Greenway?

REPLY:

There are currently 10 of a total of 220 PL columns out of order at this location. Some of these are located under bridges and are damaged due to anti-social behaviour. Our contractor is currently on site making the necessary repairs, including a cable fault, which may take some time. We will complete the other repairs as soon as possible. 

The PL columns at this location carry PIR (passive infrared) motion sensitive fittings. While on site making repairs, our contractor is also upgrading the communications hardware on the fittings. This upgrade will be completed tomorrow. 

The tannoy system along the Grand Canal Greenway forms part of the security infrastructure associated with Grange Castle Business Park and is operated through the Park's security contract.
