Can the Manager provide a report on the footpath repairs programme please: Progress YTD and what remains to be completed.

REPLY:

The 2026 footpath programme contains 86 locations for repair by a contractor. All scheme have been tendered and awarded and there are currently 5 crews working in the county on this programme.

Progress to date has been consistent with 45% of the programme completed to date which equates to over 34,000m2 of footpath renewal. The programme is on track to spend over €3m on footpath repairs in 2026.

In addition to these 86 schemes SDCC have recently appointed a contractor to start undertaking small and medium accessibility improvements on our network. An initial list of 21 locations was provided to this contractor but we welcome further locations from Councillors that can be incorporated into this programme.
