MOTION NO. 16

MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

That this Area Committee requests the Council to investigate and look at developing an Autism - Disability hub in the Clondalkin LEA , as part of this that the Council liaise with Clondalkin Autism Parents support group and other local groups-services.

REPORT:

The Council acknowledges the importance of ensuring that communities are inclusive and accessible and recognises the valuable role that community-based supports and services play for individuals with disabilities and their families.

The proposal to develop an Autism/Disability Hub within the Clondalkin LEA raises a number of considerations, including the identification of need, existing service provision, potential partnership opportunities, available resources and suitable accommodation options. These matters would require careful examination and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

The Council will continue to engage with local community organisations and relevant service providers, including the Clondalkin Autism Parents Support Group, as part of its ongoing community engagement and needs assessment processes. Any opportunities that emerge will be considered having regard to identified needs, Council priorities and the resources available.
