QUESTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
To ask the Chief Executive to outline the current top 10 tree pruning requests on priority list in the Clondalkin LEA, along with the relevant individual details and works. Please include time on list, and how items are prioritised/weighted.
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council does not generally prioritise routine tree pruning on an individual request ranking system. Instead, the Council's tree maintenance programme operates on a risk-based prioritisation system informed by arboricultural inspections and assessments. Tree maintenance is generally undertaken on a whole-estate and whole-road basis as part of the rolling maintenance programme and undertaken sequentially within the location of work.
Reactive and emergency works are prioritised where required. Reactive works are assessed having regard to factors including public safety risk, tree condition, structural defects, obstruction of roads, footpaths or public lighting, and potential damage to property or infrastructure. Emergency works are prioritised ahead of routine maintenance works.
