QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

To ask the Chief Executive for a detailed report into what the future plans are to protect and enhance 1) Fairview Oilmills and 2) St Cuthberts Church?

REPLY:

1)Oil Mills:

Following a successful tender process earlier in the year, the Public Realm Section are currently in the process of appointing a contractor to carry out conservation works to stabilise the oil mill building to prevent further deterioration.  Works will include the reconstruction of the gable and internal cross walls, stabilising the chimney breast, consolidation of door heads, archways and lintels and general masonry reconstruction/consolidation.

2) St Cuthberts Church

The vegetation clearance at St Cuthberts Church and graveyard has been completed.  The next sequence of events proposed for the site include:

• Detailed condition survey and assessment of church and graveyard
• Updated Archaeological Assessment
