QUESTION: Councillor H. Farrell
To ask the Manager for an urgent update on the situation at the HSE Adamstown Primary Health Centre, whereby the GP services that were anticipated by the HSE and SDCC Councillors to be in place by summer 2026 have not materialised, with serious impacts on residents in Adamstown and Lucan, due to many nearby GP Services being closed to new patients.
REPLY:
Thank you for your question regarding the provision of GP services at the Adamstown Primary Care Centre.
We have liaised with the HSE on this matter, and they have advised that its legal team is currently engaging with the first-ranked GP practice following the tender process, with discussions regarding the lease agreement progressing.
The HSE has stated that at this stage they are not in a position to provide a definitive timeline for completion; however, they have confirmed that they are continuing to progress the necessary legal and contractual arrangements and will provide further updates as they become available.
SDCC will continue to engage with the HSE and seek updates on this matter. Separately, it is also positive to note that planning permission was granted 10th September 2026 (SDZ26A/0026W) for a medical facility at Airlie House, which will further enhance healthcare facilities in the area.
