QUESTION NO. 16

QUESTION: Councillor D. Loftus

To ask the Chief Executive for a report listing all existing and proposed data centres within the Council area, including the Planning Register Reference and current status of each, with a breakdown of those that are operational, under construction, subject to a live planning application, or currently before An Bord Pleanála.

REPLY:

The attached schedule provides details of data centre developments within the County, including the relevant Planning Register References and the current status of individual data halls.

Planning permissions granted to date provide for 42 individual data halls across a number of approved data centre developments. Based on available planning and construction records, 32 data halls have been completed, 8 are currently under construction, and 2 have planning permission but have not yet commenced development.

The Council maintains records of the planning of data centre developments and updates the development status when resources allow. However, it does not currently maintain records of operational data halls.

Since June 2022, 10 planning applications relating to data centre developments have been appealed to An Bord Pleanála / An Coimisiún Pleanála, two of which are currently awaiting determination.
