QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
To ask the Chief Executive for a detailed report into the Clondalkin Village Initiative that includes funding, budget, scope, timeframe and public consultation?
REPLY:
The Clondalkin Village Enhancement Scheme commenced design in June 2026. A presentation was given to Councillors on June 24th which outlined;
- Project extents,
- Key stakeholders identified
- Scheme aims
- Project engagement strategy
The Clondalkin Local Planning Framework did extensive engagement with the community and as part of that a concept design was prepared.
SDCC recently appointed Civic as the design consultant for the village enhancement scheme. Civic have been requested to review the concept design and further develop it. Public consultation workshops will be held before the end of the year where we will look to gather views of the community on the progressed design with the hope that a Part VIII public consultation can commence late this year or early 2027.
The budget for this project will be determined by what the proposed interventions are. It is hoped that external funding sources will be partially used to deliver this village enhancement.
