MOTION: Councillor P. Kearns

That this committee calls on the manager for an update on the upgrade to the children's playground on the Wellington road side of Tymon Park.

REPORT:

The proposed upgrade of the children’s playground on the Wellington Road side of Tymon Park is scheduled for the second half of 2027. A more precise commencement date cannot be confirmed at this stage, as 15 playspace and teenspace projects are due to be completed before works commence at the Wellington playground.

Given the scale of the current programme, two playground contractors are currently engaged in delivering these works, and it is anticipated that a third contractor will be appointed in early 2027. The proposed works at the Wellington playground will include the installation of additional playground equipment, the replacement of some or all of the rubber safety surfacing, and an upgrade of the woodland playground.

The Area Committee will be kept informed of progress, and a further update will be provided when the commencement date has been confirmed.
