MOTION NO.4

MOTION: Councillor R. Mannion

That this Council engage with local residents to explore options to install bike locks/storage be considered to be added near the Part 8 pitch development in Greenhills to try to encourage cycling and reduce numbers of vehicles parking in the area and ensure any works identified are completed in tandem with pitch development.

REPORT:

The Council is aware of the importance of alternative transport methods to ensure a variety of options can be considered when seeking to visit Parks and amenities.
 
COS5 Objective 14 outlines how the Council seeks to ensure that public open space and associated recreational facilities are accessible by walking, cycling and public transport. This includes the provision of safe bicycle parking spaces at appropriate locations.
 
As such, bike stands are already included as part of the Detailed Design for the 3G pitch in Greenhills Park and further opportunities will be considered throughout the development of the project.
