QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy
To ask the Chief Executive for an update on what role South Dublin County Council has in relation to housing for Ukrainian residents with temporary protection following the ending of state supports including state contracted accommodation.
REPLY:
SDCC does not determine eligibility for, or administer, the State accommodation supports for Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection. Responsibility for these arrangements rests with the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, as part of the Government’s transition from the emergency accommodation model introduced in 2022.
While the council does not administer this process, it continues to engage with relevant State agencies and local integration partners to support local communities and to provide information where appropriate. Residents affected by the ending of State-contracted accommodation should contact the Department directly at ukrainetempaccom@justice.ie. Information and support may also be available through the Irish Red Cross, the International Organization for Migration and the local Intreo office, including advice on supports that may assist households seeking accommodation in the private rental market.
