Cathaoirleach's Business

That this area committee requests that a case study for a community Centre of Excellence be prepared and reported back to a future ACM - the Centre of Excellence should include provision for a library, swimming pool and community centre all of which have been provided for in the most recent County Development Plan.

REPORT:

The Area Committee's request that a case study be undertaken in respect of a Community Centre of Excellence, incorporating a library, swimming pool and community centre as envisaged within the current County Development Plan, is acknowledged.

A proposal of this nature would require comprehensive assessment to determine its feasibility, strategic fit and potential delivery approach, taking account of population growth, service demand, location factors, funding and resource requirements, governance considerations, and its alignment with the Council's existing infrastructure priorities and capital investment programme. While the County Development Plan provides a strategic policy framework supporting the future development of community, recreational and cultural facilities, the progression of any specific project remains subject to further evaluation, statutory processes, resource availability and prioritisation within the Council's overall programme of works.
