QUESTION NO.5

QUESTION: Councillor J. Sinnott

To ask the Chief Executive how many Council owned homes in the Rathfarnham / Templeogue / Firhouse / Bohernabreena area are currently vacant and what is the average turnaround time before they are re-let?.

REPLY:

The Housing Maintenance and Refurbishment section undertake re-let works on vacant housing stock throughout the County to ensure stock is brought back into productive use for letting as soon as possible.

In August 26, the average turnaround time from the date a property was surrendered to the date it was allocated was 17.36 weeks.

There are currently 62 vacant council homes representing approximately 0.58% of our total housing stock. Of these, six properties are located within the Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Firhouse and Bohernabreena area. Re-let works are currently underway on these properties and, once completed, they will be allocated to eligible households from the Social Housing Waiting List in accordance with our Allocation Scheme.
