QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor P. Holohan

To ask the Chief Executive how many apartments units, both social and private, have been built since 2019 and how many parking spaces are available for each unit?

REPLY:

In terms of general housing construction activity, the Council's data on progress since the adoption of the current South Dublin County Development Plan 2022-2028 is publicly available at: Housing Supply Monitor - SDCC. This indicates that since Q3 2022 up to the end of Q2 2026 7,996 apartments and duplexes have been completed in the County. While the Council can provide data on its own housing delivery, the Council does not have data on the breakdown between social and affordable in private developments and generally does not distinguish between tenure for planning purposes.

The Council does not have readily available data for the number of parking spaces provided for each unit. This is informed by national and County Development Plan policy and determined on a case-by-case basis for each development, or at an area wide basis, depending on various factors including location, proximity to public transport and proximity to employment, social infrastructure and local services.
