CO-OPTION FOLLOWING A TEMPORARY ABSENCE ON SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 19A OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2001

Section 19A of the Local Government Act 2001, as amended, makes provision for temporary absence and substitution of councillors in certain circumstances.

Councillor Mick Duff is temporarily absent with effect from 27 June 2026 in accordance with section 19A(1)(a)(i) of the Local Government Act 2001 (the Act) and he has notified the Meetings Administrator that he wishes nominate Ms. Samantha Duff as his temporary substitute during his absence, as provided under section 19A(1)(b) of the Act.

Section 19A(3)(b)(ii) of the Act states that "the local authority shall have regard to the preferred choice (if any) of the member causing the temporary absence as to the person who should be the temporary substitute".  Accordingly, the co-option of Ms. Samantha Duff is proposed for ratification in accordance with Section 19A of the Local Government Act 2001.
