MOTION: Councillor L. de Courcy

That this council agrees to write to the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke TD, and the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O'Donovan TD following the cessation Oshi Software Limited, trading as Tickets.ie in early June 2026 to: (i) request their intervention on behalf of the festival and event organisers affected by the cessation of trading by Tickets.ie; (ii) call for the introduction, as a matter of priority, of regulation of the ticketing sector — including measures to safeguard funds held on behalf of promoters and consumers — so as to prevent a recurrence of these difficulties; and (iii) request that available supports and funding within their Departments be mobilised to assist the events and organisers affected

REPORT:

If the motion is passed, letters will be issued to Peter Burke, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment and to Patrick O'Donovan, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport; the responses, when received, will be circulated to the Members.
