That this Area Committee requests that contact be made to meet with St John’s Church on Tower Road to look at what grants may be available to preserve and repair the walls, structure and possibly graves.
REPORT:
The Record of Protected Structures (RPS) is listed under Schedule 2, South Dublin County Development Plan 2016-2022 written statement and the location of such structures can be identified using the Map/RPS Ref. number (allocated to each item) on the County Development Plan Maps.
St. Johns Church, Tower Road Clondalkin is a protected Structure as listed under the County Development Plan RPS ref. 139.
Each owner and occupier must ensure that a protected structure or any element of a protected structure is not endangered through harm, decay or damage, whether over a short or long period, through neglect or through direct or indirect means. A local authority may: -
In regard to grants available – A Grant Scheme is available to assist the owners/occupiers of Protected Structures to undertake works to secure the conservation of the structure. The Conservation Grant Scheme is funded by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and administered by the Planning Department.

The Architectural Conservation Officer is available to deal with queries relating to the protected structures within the County including advice in regard to grants and funding available to ensure preservation of such structures.
