MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

That this Area Committee strongly support the building of a footpath in Saggart to Millbrook Nursing Home and request SDCC progress this urgently due to urgent health and safety issues.

REPORT:

Road Maintenance support the delivery of the footpath at this location and believe it would benefit the safety of all road users.

It would be proposed to deliver the scheme in accordance with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994. SDCC generally tend to carry out non-statutory public consultation as part of Section 38 schemes but no resource is currently available to undertake a consultation for this scheme.

If this motion is passed SDCC will proceed with the Section 38 process (without a non-statutory public consultation) which will enable the scheme to be delivered on a fast tracked timeframe and ensure a safer road in the near future.
