Can the Chief Executive arrange an on-site meeting with representatives of the three schools located along Station Road, Adamstown together with relevant Council officials to discuss the ongoing traffic management and road safety concerns on this route? Given that requests for engagement on this matter have previously been raised through the Traffic Management Meeting (TMM) process can the Chief Executive also provide an update on any actions taken to date and outline what measures are being considered to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and school access along this stretch of Station Road?.
REPORT:
The Traffic Section previously considered matters relating to Station Road, Adamstown through the Traffic Management Meeting (TMM) process. The issues raised included the review and updating of existing traffic management measures such as double yellow lines, single yellow lines, “set down only” areas and associated road markings and signage in the vicinity of the schools. These works have been assessed and are currently included on the list of works to be progressed by the Council.
In relation to engagement with the schools, the Traffic Section with Road Safety Officer have liaised with representatives of the three schools and have held an on-site meeting to discuss the ongoing traffic management and road safety concerns along the section of Station Road.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the operational issues being experienced during school drop-off and pick-up periods and to further examine potential measures to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and school access in the area. A report from this meeting is now attached.
