QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

To ask the Chief Executive if owners of Oakfield Est. have received fines or notices for illegal dumping and drinking and to ask that he follow up on same.

REPLY:

Following complaints received by SDCC in January and February of this year, there were two Notices issued to the site owner under the provisions of the Litter Pollution Act for instances of illegal dumping at the location referenced. 

In March, a fine was issued under the provisions of the Litter Pollution Act. The Council will continue to take all enforcement actions available to them under the Litter Pollution Act where evidence of illegal dumping is identified by the Litter Warden.

The enforcement of restrictions on alcohol consumption in public places falls under the remit of An Garda Síochána and not the Council.
