MOTION: Councillor W. Carey

That this Area Committee agrees that Council shall initiate a safe school street policy at Talbot Senior National School in Bawnogue and to provide for safe pedestrian crossing at rear entrance of School at Lealand Road.

REPORT:

A meeting was held with the school Principal to discuss traffic and safety concerns, during peak school times.

The school is included on the Safe School Zone (SSZ) programme alongside Nano Nagle National School. Given their proximity, a coordinated approach is being taken, a joint meeting with both schools to align priorities and ensure effective solutions was held last week.

Design proposals are currently being prepared, and subject to funding, it is anticipated that suitable safety measures can be implemented at both schools later this year.
