QUESTION NO. 11

QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny

To ask the Chief Executive is there any plans to continue the cycle path adjacent to the Newlands Rd Junction along Fonthill Rd North. From the crossroads there is a absence of a widened path for at least 100 metres. Cyclists and pedestrians have to mount the grass verge due to the narrowness of the existing footpath if cyclists are coming from a different direction.

REPLY:

Fonthill Road North, including the section outlined, forms part of the Cycle South Dublin programme. The area in the vicinity of Lucan Newlands Road is subject to development under the Clonburris scheme, which proposes junction improvements, including upgrades at the Fonthill Road / Thomas Omer Way junction to the south of the location indicated. Following the completion of these works, further improvements to the approaches to, and operation of, the Lucan Newlands Road junction can be considered.
