QUESTION NO.2

QUESTION: Councillor E. Murphy

Can the Council please provide an update on the following motion from June 2025 - ' That this Area Committee strongly advocates by writing to Dublin Rural Leader that they revise their funding areas to include the Edmondstown Electoral Division which is currently excluded'.

REPLY:

 LEADER have confirmed that the areas included within the LEADER programme were determined prior to the commencement of the current programme and were based on specific criteria, including population levels and measures of deprivation.

 It has also been confirmed that LEADER will undertake a mid-programme review of its Local Development Strategy. While the timing of this review has not yet been finalised, requests for the inclusion of additional areas may be considered at that stage, subject to the relevant qualifying criteria.

 LEADER have indicated that they will consider an applications to include additional areas and have noted that supporting information should accompany the application. This should include details relating to population numbers, local Community Centres, Tidy Towns groups, community organisations and other groups that may benefit from LEADER funding.

If this Area Committee submit an application to LEADER seeking the inclusion of Edmonstown within the LEADER funding area, supporting letters from the LCDC and other local organisations and community groups would further strengthen the application.
