QUESTION: Councillor J. Sinnott
To ask the Chief Executive what steps are taken by South Dublin County Council to ensure that the public roads and footpaths in Rathfarnham Templeogue Firhouse and Bohernabreena are restored to an acceptable and safe standard following works undertaken by Uisce Eireann.
REPLY:
The Guidelines for Managing Openings in Public Roads sets out the national standard for reinstating roads. These requirements are attached to every licence issued in South Dublin.
Contractors often provide temporary reinstatement for a number of weeks prior to the permanent reinstatement and it is assumed that this is the what the question refers to. SDCC's roadworks control unit are actively engaging with utilities to ensure the quality of temporary re-instatements around the county are improved.
