MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to investigate and address the deteriorating public realm conditions at the student drop-off area to the rear of Kishoge Community College, which has become a noticeable black spot in terms of cleanliness, maintenance and overall amenity.
Given that this location serves as a key access route for students, the Committee requests that immediate clean-up and improvement works are undertaken, along with ongoing maintenance measures to restore and sustain the area to an appropriate standard.
The Committee further requests a report outlining actions taken and any proposed measures to prevent the area from falling into disrepair again.
REPORT:
The council are aware of the ongoing issues with dumping and unauthorised caravans at this location. Action is taken were possible, through the serving of Section 10 Notices under the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act to remove unauthorised caravans from the location. Regular cleansing of the area is also carried out by our site caretakers. The area has recently been reinspected by the Traveller Accommodation Unit, and deep cleansing is due to take place shortly.
The lands adjacent to Lynches Park are not within council ownership. Where the council are advised of dumping at these lands, the owners are notified and requested to carry out cleansing and put preventative measures in place, where possible.
