That SDCC extend the flexi wands outside Palmers Gate apartments to eliminate the illegal right hand turns into the and out of the complex at Kennelsfort Road lower

REPORT:

The layout at Palmerstown Gate has been very carefully designed and constructed.  The aim is to prevent right turns when exiting the residential development. This manoeuvre is not allowed as the junction is very close to the stop line of the Kennelsfort Lower junction onto the R148.  In most instances there will be a queue at this junction not allowing right turning traffic from the apartment complex to safely join the main line queue.

Therefore, the council insisted that the developer install a raised island and flexi-bollards to direct all Palmers gate exiting traffic to turn left only and go down through the village.

On careful re-examination, there are no changes that the council can do to further enhance the operation of the Palmers gate junction.

If there continues to be illegal moves by vehicle drivers, then these incidences need to be reported to the Gards. In additional, the Council will highlight this matter to the Gards directly. SDCC will continue to keep monitoring this location to ensure driver compliance and inform the Gards of any further dangerous driving observed.
