QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

To ask the Chief Executive to provide The number of homeless accommodation facilities (including family hubs) in the Lucan Electoral Area

Of these how many are:       

(a) operated by South Dublin County Council/DRHE, and     

(b) operated by private providers

REPLY:

Within the Lucan Electoral Area, emergency accommodation is provided at Finnstown. This is a privately managed facility offering emergency accommodation for families and single women. On-site supports are delivered by Focus Ireland, the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive (DRHE) Housing Support Team, and SDCC's Outreach Worker.

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) is provided by Dublin City Council as the lead statutory authority on the response to homelessness in Dublin and adopts a shared service approach across the Dublin region on behalf of South Dublin County Council, Fingal County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. 

The DRHE manages the tendering process for the provision of properties for the use of emergency accommodation for both Private Emergency Accommodation (under lease or contract) and Emergency Accommodation managed by NGO’s.

The Council, in conjunction with the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE), will continue to actively explore and identify a suitable location within the county for the provision of homeless accommodation.
